About us
Trade Trained. Detail Focused. Proud of Every Job.
LS Decorating was started by Louis Spence, a trade-qualified painter who spent years learning the craft properly before going out on his own. Based in Auckland, we work with homeowners and businesses who want a painter they can trust to turn up, do the job right, and leave the place tidy.
We’ve worked across Auckland and into the Mangawhai and Te Arai area, covering everything from full exterior repaints and new builds through to feature walls, window restorations, and commercial offices. The standard doesn’t change based on the size of the job.
Why LS Decorating?
Because shortcuts cost you twice. We do the prep properly, use the right products for each specific job, and don’t leave until the client is happy. That’s not a sales pitch, it’s how we operate on every single job.
Our Company
LS Decorating is a small Auckland painting business built on the belief that the quality of the finish starts with the quality of the prep. We take on residential and commercial work across Auckland, with a focus on homeowners who want the job done properly the first time. We’re not the cheapest option in town, and we don’t try to be. We use quality Resene and Dulux products suited to each surface, we protect your home carefully while we’re in it, and we clean up at the end of every day.
Our Values
Honest
We tell you what the job actually involves, what it will cost, and what to expect. No inflated quotes, no surprises on the invoice. What we say is what you get.
Action
We follow through on what we commit to. If we say we'll be there at 7.30am, we're there at 7.30am. If something comes up, we call you. No ghosting, no excuses.
Reliable
We show up, we do the work, and we do it properly. You won't have to chase us for updates or wonder when we're coming back. We're consistent and we take our commitments seriously.
Driven
We genuinely care about the result. Not just the look of the job on the day, but how it holds up six months later. That drive to do it right is what gets us out of bed every morning.
Our People
Louis Spence — Owner, Operator
Louis left school at 16 knowing he wanted to work with his hands and learn a proper trade. He got into painting early and spent years working under a mentor who held himself and everyone around him to a high standard. That's where Louis's attention to detail comes from, and it's the standard he brings to every job he takes on.
After gaining his NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Painting and Decorating through BCITO, specialising in spray application, and picking up his Site Safe and MEWP certifications, he started LS Decorating. The business was built on the skills he'd developed and a conviction that there was a gap in the market for a painter who genuinely cared about the result.
When he's not on the tools, Louis is building his reputation one tidy site and one satisfied client at a time.
